Overview

Humanitarian coordination refers to the organized effort to respond to and manage humanitarian crises, such as natural disasters, conflicts, and epidemics. OCHA works closely with other UN agencies, such as the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), to provide aid to those in need. The Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (USG/ERC) is appointed for a five-year term. The UN OCHA Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) platform provides a centralized platform for sharing humanitarian data and improving coordination.
