Mahayana Buddhism is a branch of Buddhism that accepts the core teachings of early Buddhism while also recognizing additional scriptures and doctrines. The Mahayana tradition was influenced by Tantric Buddhism. The Dalai Lama has noted that the Mahayana teachings are a precious gift, offering a path to enlightenment that is accessible to all.
