Modern Slavery: The Unseen Epidemic | Golden Age

Modern slavery, a pervasive and clandestine issue, affects over 40 million people worldwide, according to the International Labor Organization (ILO). This phenomenon encompasses various forms of exploitation, including forced labor, sex trafficking, and debt bondage. The Global Slavery Index estimates that 71% of companies believe that modern slavery exists in their supply chains, highlighting the need for increased transparency and accountability. As of 2022, the ILO reported that 50% of all modern slaves are found in five countries: India, China, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Indonesia.
